Goodwill-West Texas has given Dennis a new outlook on life.
Dennis grew up in a nice community in Tennessee and was an all state football player in college in Alabama. But after moving to Texas he got mixed up with the wrong crowd and eventually wound up in the state penitentiary.
After 23 years of confinement, Dennis found himself in Abilene with no I.D. and no job. Goodwill-West Texas not only provided Dennis with a job, but it also gave him a new outlook on life.
“I took life for granted before,” said Dennis. “I understand other people now and I’m happy and free of worry.”
Outside of his job at Goodwill-West Texas, Dennis is involved in his church and serves as a mentor for at risk youth in the Abilene community. He hopes that by sharing his story, he can help prevent future generations from making bad decisions.
Dennis considers himself “one fortunate guy” to have been given a second chance at life through Goodwill-West Texas.
"My pay is average, but what I get out of working for Goodwill makes up for the rest," said Dennis.
Congratulations Dennis. Goodwill provides the opportunity, but the individual has to take advantage of it. Continued success in finding and enjoying a new life. You are an inspiration.
